Excellent exercises for stamina and note reading

This book launched my playing and my practice sessions into a whole new level. I've only learned 2-3 of these studies, but I use them as my daily exercises and warm-ups before I play songs or practice riffs, etc. My note-reading is much better also. I found a few things:
1) I couldn't complete a single exercise before without my hands gassing out. After learning 1 study, mastering it, and playing it solidly every day for a few weeks, my stamina improved greatly. I realized, "wow, even if I could play long jazz solos in my head, my hands would have tired out after a while". Doing these studies everyday has brought me to the point where stamina is not really an issue (especially in the left hand)
2) You can play these either straight-8ths or in swing fashion. Sometimes I like to alternate each measure- one swing, then one straight, etc.
3) A lot of the ideas here are directly quoted in Galbraith's other book, Volume 5- Guitar Improv.
4) These are also remarkably similar to Pat Martino's "Linear Expression" book (I.e., lots of hexatonics, chromatics)
5) I've been able to increase speed by doing each exercise at one tempo, then increasing the tempo by 5, then 10, etc. etc.
Overall, great book. Good studies at the very end too with ii-V-I's and other stuff. You can find some videos on YouTube of people doing these, so you can hear how they sound.
