About the Author
June Hunt, M.A. Criswell College, is a biblical counselor whose award-winning radio program "Hope for the Heart" is heard on 900 radio outlets around the world. For more than 25 years, she has counseled people, offering them hope for today's problems. June has helped many people with emotional, relational, and spiritual problems experience God's love through biblical hope and practical advice. Early family pain was the catalyst that shaped June's compassionate heart. Later, as a youth director, she became aware of the need for sound biblical counsel. After years of teaching and research, she developed a scripturally based counseling course covering topics such as marriage and parenting, depression and anger, stress and suicide. These topics are now available as the Aspire Press "Hope for the Heart" booklets. It is full of practical information including a Codependency Checklist Test to help identify unhealthy relational patterns that can be applied to any type of relationship, understanding the root causes of codependency, how to confront your own codependency, and a Codependent Relationship Profile that lists attributes of unhealthy relationships.

In the Recovery Step sections, the author asks probing questions, engages readers to self-reflect, and then gives prompts to help them write out their thoughts and feelings based on the discovery of their relationship patterns and history. She also counsels readers how to create healthy boundaries and learn how to take personal responsibility for healthy relationship choices.

I purchased this book at Celebrate Recovery. In the tilled pathway of the Twelve Steps, this book provided the key for me to understand and break free from Codependency. The author drives straight to the core and lays the ax to the root of codependency with her laser beam focus, accuracy and effective treatment of this issue.

Excellent Resource

My pastor recommended this book to me last year, it was perfect for me. I struggle with codependency but not in an alcohol related way. It is a great book for people of all walks of life and level of struggle. If you find yourself getting too attached to people and unable to say no then this is the book for you. The examples and scriptures were excellent and easy to understand. I was able to easily take notes of points that applied to me and I have even used this book as an outline for helping others.
